Countless plants withered.
But I don't look back. If I do, I won't be able to keep my sanity...
My name is Suzuki and I've been gardening as a hobby for 14 years.
This is a section that introduces only plants that we have actually grown.
This time we will introduce the variegated "Chinese rubber tree", an obedient and excellent student.
What kind of plant is the cinnamon rubber tree?
It is native to Southeast Asia.
The official name is Ficus vinendikii.
" Amsterdam King" is a selectively bred variety.
It is a popular plant with bamboo-like leaves.
If it grows healthy, the number of branches and leaves will increase and it will become quite voluminous.
I've never seen one in person, but it grows to a size of over 5m.
They are not particularly sensitive, so raising them doesn't require much effort.
I can safely recommend this as your first houseplant.
Give me the sun
If there is not enough sunlight, the pattern will fade.
It does not like strong light, but grows better in bright places.
Although it is relatively shade tolerant, it needs solar energy to grow well.
I hate the cold
I have only once had the experience of keeping it in a plastic greenhouse on my balcony during the winter.
It has lost its leaves spectacularly and is looking weak...
At least it didn't wither, which was a relief.
Basically, if the temperature drops below 10°C, keep it indoors.
Plant Gachimeter
Finally, I will give the "Chinese rubber tree" a score based on my very personal opinion.
Ease of growing: Requires good light, about 18 points. Keep indoors in winter.
-Ease of tailoring: 19 points - No need to do much.
・Growth rate: 17 points. Not super fast.
・Osaka compatibility: 19 points, no problems!
・Likeability: 16 points. Please grow a little more slowly.
Overall score: 89 points
That's all, Editor-in-Chief.
