I'm Suzuki, and this is my 14th year as a hobby gardener.
This section introduces only plants I have actually cultivated.

Today, I'm introducing "Neophytum Lymanii," also known as the red fireworks.

What kind of plant is Neophytum Lymanii?

Also known as "firecracker." Its name likely comes from its appearance, which resembles red, spreading fireworks.
It is an intergeneric hybrid of Neoregelia and Orthophytum.
It is unknown whether this occurred naturally or through breeding by horticulturists.

There isn't much information available on it, both domestically and internationally.
Several varieties of "Neophytum" exist.
Since it's not very popular, it's a plant rarely seen in the general market.

It quickly turns green.

It's a characteristic of the Neoregelia genus that many varieties change color or lose their patterns if they don't get enough light.
Lymanii, too, will quickly turn green if it doesn't get enough light...
I use a grow light for the ones I grow indoors, irradiating them from about 30cm away.

The ones I put outside lost their red color when I gave them 30% shade in the summer.
It seems sunlight is as important to them as it is to Superman.

A resilient plant that doesn't easily die.

It loves water, but it won't wilt easily even if it's a little dry.
It's unfazed even by the recent temperatures exceeding 35℃.
Even in winter, if kept indoors, it doesn't get sick and is a very well-behaved plant.

Each slender leaf is stiff, and if handled incorrectly, it can cut your hands.
This might be a bit challenging for beginners.

It forms clumps, but its growth is slow in my home.

The only thing to watch out for is the cold!

I'm aiming for a large family.
