Countless plants withered.
But I don't look back. If I do, I won't be able to keep my sanity...
My name is Suzuki and I've been gardening as a hobby for 14 years.
This is a section that introduces only plants that we have actually grown.
This time we will introduce Stromante Triostar, a variety that has not been particularly popular in a world where variegated varieties are all the rage.
What kind of plant is Stromanthe Triostar?
Their native land is the tropical regions of South America.
This variety has been around for quite some time, and you'll likely see it at local florists.
Its official name is "Stromante Multicolor", but it is more commonly called "Triostar" or "Tricolor".
The Japanese name is "Urabenishou."
Many plants that have been established in Japan for a long time have Japanese names.
It grows to a size of over 1m and is perfect when you want to make an impact in a space.
I need water
Depending on the environment in which they are grown, they will become very thirsty for water as the temperature rises from around May.
In my house, perhaps due to the influence of maintaining the plants on the balcony, if I just water them from above every day, the tips of the leaves start to wither.
Things have been going well since I started collecting water in a slightly deep tray and constantly watering the bottom.
Even in winter, if there is a lack of water, the leaves will wither from the tips, so it is difficult to keep them in good condition unless you water them frequently.
Beauty is unmatched
The high-contrast red, white, and green color scheme is striking.
The white parts are dyed a pale pink, making for a fun coloring to look at.
Despite this, it's not that popular...
Does it have a somewhat old-fashioned image?
As long as you pay attention to watering, it's a pretty good houseplant...
This is one of the plants I hope will see the light of day someday.

That's all, Editor-in-Chief.
