Risshun (the beginning of spring), Geshi (the summer solstice), and Touji (the winter solstice) are also among the 24 solar terms and are used to describe the seasons.

It was created in ancient China to help emperors in agricultural work by using the movement of the sun as a guide and to make the changing of the seasons easier to understand in detail.
