[24 Solar Terms] Shoman

In the florist industry, this is a time of relief after Mother's Day, the biggest event of the year.
The pleasant weather will continue for a while longer.
This time we will talk about Shoman , the eighth season in the 24 solar terms .

What is Shoman?

Shoman refers to the period from around May 20th to June 4th.

This is the time when all life forms grow vigorously in the sunlight and begin to fill the earth.

Xiaoman Food

Cherries and melons are in season during the Shoman season.

Cherries are the fruit of trees in the genus Prunus, which belong to the Rosaceae family, and are in season from May to July.
It is mainly harvested from European cherry and black cherry trees .
It is an expensive fruit because it is difficult to cultivate and the production volume is small.
For this reason, it is also called the "red gemstone."
Another luxury fruit is melon.
They are mainly in season from April to May, but some varieties can be enjoyed until around July.

Shoman Flower

Safflowers bloom during the Shoman season.

This flower has been used as a dye since ancient Egypt.
It produces small yellow flowers, but the yellow pigment dissolves easily in water, leaving behind a red pigment.
The pigment turns red and has been used for dyeing fabrics.
Treat yourself to a little luxury every once in a while.
