Although it is a shade-tolerant houseplant, insufficient sunlight will cause the leaves to fall off. If you keep it indoors, keep it in a soft, sunny, well-ventilated place.
The sun is strong in the summer, so avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can cause the leaves to burn. Either expose it to sunlight through a lace curtain, or grow it a little away from a window.
Once the weather warms up, you can keep it outside from spring to autumn.

In winter, it is possible to survive outdoors in areas west of Kanto where temperatures do not drop below freezing, but it is generally safest to keep it in a place where the temperature can be maintained at 10°C or above.
Since the entrance is also a place where outside air can easily enter, it is recommended to move it to the living room or somewhere else.

Watering
